Learning Internships
Purpose: The Learning Internship (LI) is designed to blend and include academic and work-based learning to prepare students for work and life long learning. The Learning Internship (LI) takes the student out into the workplace to do real work in close relationship with a professional adult who serves as a mentor. The Internship should be a focus of the student's interest.
Length of Time: 6-12 hours per week
Requirements: Students must complete the Internship through an authentic project which can become the main core to academic growth and investigation done by youth. Students must do Learning Internships each year they are in school. In the 12th grade, they should do a senior thesis project, which includes the three prior year's experience.
